Acceptance of Terms and Overview
Welcome to Mavois. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of all experiences that Mavois provides, including our website, any mobile or desktop applications, creator profiles, audio hosting and playback, discovery tools, messaging, recommendations, and any other features, products, services, or content that link to or reference these Terms (collectively, the “Services”). We created Mavois to help voice over artists and the broader creative community connect, share their journeys, and discover new collaborators. These Terms describe the relationship between you and Mavois when you use the Services, and they set the expectations that keep this community constructive and safe.
By clicking a button or taking an action that shows acceptance (for example, “Agree,” “Sign up,” or “Continue”), or by accessing or using any part of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy and our Community Rules. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Services. If you are using the Services on behalf of another person or an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that person or organization to these Terms, and “you” will refer to that person or organization as well as to you.
The Services are designed for professional connection and creative expression. You may encounter profiles, portfolios, audio samples, stories, recommendations, comments, direct messages, and other user contributions. Some of this material may be produced by community members and partners, and it may carry intellectual property rights or usage restrictions. Your use of the Services should respect those rights and the spirit of our community. We encourage open, generous interaction; we also expect courtesy, accuracy, and good judgment in what you create, upload, share, and say.
We want your experience to be clear and predictable. These Terms explain the ground rules for accounts and responsibilities, content and licensing, acceptable use, intellectual property, safety and reporting, termination, dispute resolution, and other important details. Your feedback helps us improve the Services and the community that grows around them.
Please read these Terms carefully. They form a binding agreement between you and Mavois. Your continued access or use of the Services after the Effective Date is your ongoing agreement to these Terms and to any referenced policies that apply to your use.
Accounts and Responsibilities
To access certain features of Mavois, including creating a profile, uploading a story, or connecting with other users, you must register for an account. When you do, you agree to meet the following conditions:
Account Information & Accuracy
You promise that all information you provide during registration and at all times afterward—such as your name, email address, professional details, and pronouns—is accurate, complete, and up to date. If any of this information changes, you must promptly update your account profile to maintain its accuracy.
Security, Passwords, and Authorized Use
You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your password. You may not share your password or allow anyone else to access your account, whether with or without your permission. You are fully responsible for any activity that occurs under your account, regardless of whether the activity was authorized by you.
If you suspect any unauthorized use of your account, or if you believe your credentials have been compromised in any way, you must immediately change your password and notify us at abuse@mavois.com.
Account Restrictions & Compliance
You agree not to register under a name that impersonates another individual or entity, or infringes on others’ rights. You may not use the Services for any unlawful purpose, nor attempt to facilitate others in doing so. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to suspend or terminate your account if we suspect violation of these Terms or applicable laws.
Your account gives you access to powerful tools that connect you with our community of voice over professionals and collaborators. In return, we ask that you use your account respectfully and responsibly, keeping your profile truthful, maintaining your credentials securely, and notifying us immediately if anything seems amiss.
User Content and Licensing
Your Content, Your Rights
You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights to any content—such as audio recordings, demos, stories, profile text, and other materials—you submit, upload, or publish through Mavois (your“User Content”). We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
License to Us
By uploading your User Content, you grant Mavois a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, fully paid-up license to host, store, display, distribute, and otherwise use your User Content solely for the purposes of operating, promoting, improving, and providing the Services, including across all platforms and formats. This license is necessary to power functionality such as playback, sharing, search indexing, featured placements, and other site features.
Limited Scope and Control
Unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing, this license only covers use within the Mavois ecosystem. We will not sell your User Content to third parties or use it in unrelated commercial contexts without your prior consent.
If you delete your User Content or your account, Mavois will:
- remove your content from public-facing areas of the Services,
- no longer use it moving forward—this does not affect uses already made in compliance with these Terms, such as published features or archives;
- maintain backups only as necessary to comply with legal or regulatory retention requirements.
Responsibility and Safe Uploading
You represent and warrant that you own—or are fully authorized to share— all rights in User Content you upload. You must ensure that anything you submit does not infringe on another party’s rights, violate privacy, or break any laws or these Terms. We reserve the right to remove any User Content if it violates these Terms, and to terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
We want your creative contributions to empower our community—and we want to respect and protect your rights in doing so. If you have questions or concerns about how your User Content is used, feel free to reach out to info@mavois.com.
External Links and Third-Party Content
In the case where you are linked to any external website from our Website, Mavois has not reviewed any of such external websites and shall not be responsible for the contents of any such linked sites. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement, approval, or control by Mavois. Use of any such linked site is at your own risk and we strongly advise you to do your own investigations with respect to the suitability of those sites.
Termination, Dispute Resolution; Governing Law
Termination by Either Party
You may terminate your account at any time by following the account deletion process within the Services. If you delete your account, your profile, story, and related User Content will be removed from public-facing areas—but may remain in backups for legal or operational purposes.
We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to suspend or terminate your account or access to the Services—for example, for violation of these Terms, conduct we reasonably deem harmful to the community or the Services, or as required by law—with or without notice. You remain responsible for all obligations resulting from your use of the Services up to the time of termination.
Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute or concern with the Services, we encourage you to contact us first at support@mavois.com so we can try to resolve it informally.
If informal resolution isn‘t possible, you may choose to pursue a formal process. You agree to submit any unresolved disputes under these Terms to governing law and dispute resolution mechanisms as described below.
Choice of Law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or your use of the Services will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
Arbitration (if applicable)
Any legal dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to binding arbitration under the [$Kenya Arbitration Act or a similar applicable code], rather than in court. Each party will bear its own costs, and the arbitration will occur in Nairobi.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that portion will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of the Terms will remain in full force and effect.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post updates with a new "Effective Date" at the top. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
